New Work, New Colors

New Green Color~ Spafford Pottery
Here is a photo showing the new Green glaze that I definitely will be using more of! It is a natural toned mint shade. I just love the streaks inside the bowl! Where the green tone overlaps the darker shade there is a more blue shade that comes through, but that all depends on the amount of overlap allowed.

Comparison Green with Teal~ Spafford Pottery
This picture shows the same glazes- the new and the old tones together. the only difference is the way the kiln was fired. The old glaze is definitely a bluer tone. The 2 diffuser pots were glazed in the same blueish tone and fired the first time together. I refired the "mushroom" shaped one with the new kiln schedule and got this tone. The picture may not show it clearly, but it is more the new green shade- BUT there is an increase in the specks that do impart a little bit of blueish tones.

New Neutral Toned Shade~ Spafford Pottery
This is another glaze I have been working on. When fired one way it turns out like a transparent sand tone on my clay. When fired differently the color changes to more of a opaque white tone with tons of specks and crystal growth. It is a good neutral toned shade that I still have to play with to see how it interacts with my staple glazes but I think I am gonna like this one! The picture also shows something new I am playing around with- Apple Bakers. You peel the apple, fill it with goodies like brown sugar and butter and cinnamon and bake them on the post in the center of the dish.

All of the above pieces are for sale, contact me if interested for further details- like price etc.
